Very few elderly people are healthy and even though they have taken care of their health in the past, there is always a chance that they will fall victim to some disease or the other. But this is very tedious for relatives as it is very time consuming and at the same time need to be at the beck and call of the person suffering from Alzheimer's. There are many elderly people who are not fond of staying in retirement homes and are most comfortable and happy while within the four walls of their home. Sometimes these nurses may get so emotionally attached to the patient that they will mourn along with the grieving family and will go out of their way to help the family.
An assignment that has been assigned to a home nurse has no stipulated duration and normally starts during the last few months of a person's life. But in few cases it has been seen that if a person's health does not deteriorate, this assignment could even last for a couple of years. It is very important that you choose a nurse who is willing to go out of their way in taking care of the patient and not just wanting to make a quick buck.
